Hi there, after months putting off a visit to the dentist I visited one yesterday and was told what I thought was the case: my teeth are in need of some urgent work!  This will include extracting 2 broken teeth, cleaning out infections and replacing these with crowns as well as replacing a couple of old fillings.

I realise this is going to be an expensive procedure and was wondering if taking out a dental insurance will help to cover some of the costs.

I have had a quick look at the policies on offer and all agree to an annual revision and clean, as well as X-rays.  However, what is not mentioned (so clearly) are futher, more complicated and costly treatments.  Does anyone know if tooth extractions and crowns covered under dental policies?

Would I be silly to take out a dental plan only to find it covers just the initial appointment and X-ray?

Any advice, greatly received.

Thanks.

Crowns, root canals, implants and other orthodontic dentistry is normally excluded from dental insurance.
