Ok, so I am here with a student visa (well, actually I applied for a renewal about one month ago, and am still waiting for the approval and new card).
I worked last year on my student visa with no problems, always with small monthly facturas of around 200 euro, etc. At the time, due to what my employer had said, I was under the impression that it was alright and legal for me to facturar, as my understanding was that I could work up to 20 hours a week as long as it did not conflict with my studies.
Now it has come to my attention that this may not be correct, and that in order for it to be legal, there is some kind of paperwork and application that needs to be done (right?). This fall I already am working for two academies where I am asked to submit monthly facturas, which tend to be in amounts between 150-250 euro (never more than 300). these have my NIE on them and 15% is deducted as tax withheld.
2 questions:
1. what is the legality of the situation (I have looked around and not found any specific answers)?
2. assuming that my current facturas do not comply with the law, what is the actual likelihood of someone noticing and giving a damn, especially given that the amounts are relatively small?
3. if the gov’t did notice and actually care, what would the consequences be for me and for the academies?
thank you!
