I know this topic has been posted and discussed many times before, however I am still none the wiser on if/where motor insurance can be obtained for longer than 90 days.

I have been posted to Gibraltar on a work secondment and together with my wife we will rent in Spain, as it is a temporary secondment I have no intention of registering as a Spanish resident, importing my car to Spain or buying a car in Spain, however I would like to take my car with me to use for 5 months, while I am posted in Gib.

I have spoken to my broker and no one seem to provide cover for more than 90 days unless a pay a massive additional premium, the only way, unless anyone here knows a motor insurance company willing to offer up to 180 days cover overseas, is to drive back to the UK on day 89 and bring my other car back with me for the remainder of my secondment.

I guess the other option would be to hire cars for 6 months, any body have any other ideas?
