Hello,

I’m a Puerto Rican physician currently living in the USA and I’m considering moving to Spain, would like to have advice regarding my options. While being fully fluent in English/Spanish is definitely an advantage, my partner only speaks English. We are on our early 50’s and need to make a change.  I’m not even sure I want to practice medicine any more, but I question how realistic it would be to start from scratch in a totally new country with a totally new career. We are too young for retirement but we feel too old to change occupations. I’ve also heard that it is very hard for foreigners to practice medicine in Spain, is that true? I would imagine that being fluent in English (which is my second language but currently the one I use the most) would help open at least some doors somewhere, then again, I understand that the Spaniards would give their own citizens preferential treatment. We visited Spain a year ago and loved it, but we aren’t rushing into anything, and we want to know the downsides of making such a move, that would be very hard to reverse.
Thanks for any feedback!
