Hello all! I’ve been a lurker for over a year now. My family and I visited Barcelona & Valencia last fall and we’re now officially ready to make the move. But that’s a story for another day.

My need for assistance is in the area of real estate zoning. I would like to find a small house with a bit of land (between 1 and 3 acres) near a small town in Eastern or Southern Spain. On this land I would like to have a few animals such as a cow, a laying hen and a goat. I know that here in the states the property would have to be properly zoned. What is the zoning for land that may have agricultural usage? Or is it possible that if it’s rural anything goes with regards to usage? Boy wouldn’t that be nice!

Also, would I be better served in finding a community in northern Spain to find land at a better rate? I assume so, but I am hoping there are some small pockets near Valencia that may be affordable.

Thank you!
