Pet passports are required.
Microchipping is mandatory.
Valid Rabies shots and follow up blood tests are required before animals will be re-admitted to the UK.
Also required is a veterinarian examination at your port of exit from Spain or France when returning to the UK; the examination must take place between 24 and 48hrs before departure from the port and will include a couple of worm and tick treatments. The vets certificate is required in addition to the Pet Passport.
Rabies shots in Spain have a validity period of 1 year.

It’s a long trip by car; work on a minimum of at least one nights stay en route if using Spanish Ports or two nights if using French Ports.
