Can you advise me. I am looking to take my three dogs to Spain and occasionally return by car with my dogs. Can you advise me. What do I do and what do I need.

Scotsman Hi…

Pet passports are required.
Microchipping is mandatory.
Valid Rabies shots and follow up blood tests are required before animals will be re-admitted to the UK.
Also required is a veterinarian examination at your port of exit from Spain or France when returning to the UK; the examination must take place between 24 and 48hrs before departure from the port and will include a couple of worm and tick treatments. The vets certificate is required in addition to the Pet Passport.

Rabies shots in Spain have a validity period of 1 year.

See websites;

http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/travel/

and

http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Foreigntravel/BeforeYouTravel/DG_4000019

It’s a long trip by car; work on a minimum of at least one nights stay en route if using Spanish Ports or two nights if using French Ports.

Hope this helps.
