Hi when I move to spain somewhere near to Malaga, I will be carrying on my self employed work, which in the Uk is a simple thing.

I sell old vinyl records online, that it, I read on one of the forums that you can apply to pay your income tax yearly if you have uncomplicated taxes, so what of the three forms do I need to get.

Im disabled and wi l not have that much money, so would be doing my own book work like I always have, so really someone out there now could you tell me what form I need to get so that I can just do a yearly return.

The next question is about our van,
My wife will be driving our van down to Spain, and when we get there, we will be getting a left hand drive spanish car,

whats the system or equvilent out there regarding

MOT

road tax

Is there anything we need to do with our UK licances ?

Were hoping to trade our van in against our car, is it likely a spanish garage will do a trade in with us on a UK vehicle.

Still cant answer your questions re tax but would suggest that instead of posting a new thread you at least acknowledge the replies to your previous thread.

Insofar as your van is concerned; it is highly unlikely that a Spanish garage would take on a UK reg., right hand drive vehicle. The CDS is riddled with illegal UK reg vans and cars. You might get something for it by selling privately but only if it has a full MOT and UK road Tax; once these expire the vehicle is illegal throughout Europe.

The Spanish equivalent of the MOT is the ITV Inspection.

Spanish Road Tax is billed by and paid to the local authority and is much less than the uk equivalent.

Licences… once you become official residents it is advisable to change your UK licence to A Spanish one… advisable but not mandatory if your uk licence is the EU Photocard version. Since you are over 45, the licence should be accompanied by a med. cert, issued by a specialist medical centre.

To buy a car you will need an NIE number, your passport, proof of address like Empadronimiento and / or the deeds to your property or a copy of the rental agreement. A good garage will sort out the ownership documentation transfer. The garage will not allow you to drive the vehicle off their forecourt until you have shown them an insurance cover note for the vehicle. Spanish car insurance is generally more expensive than the UK; three types as in the uk 3rd party, tpf&t and comprehensive. All insurance should include assistencia por viajar which is a roadside recovery and breakdown service.

NIE and Empadronimiento information is available from the home page of this forum.

hope this helps… as mentioned before though in the other thread a joint income of 1000 ? per month is definitely pushing it…
