Does anyone know what the legislation regarding bike transportation on a car?
I?ve just bought a rack for the back of the car. Is a red and white reflective board law or is it just some kind of safety measure?

Thanks for your help.

Hi,
Not seen many racks on the backs of cars out here except on motorhomes when they always seem to have a reflective board as part of the installation. I would imagine therefore that the board is a legal requirement.

I would also suggest that the same rules apply as in the UK whereby no lights are obscured by the bike when fitted to the rack and that the registration plate is clearly visible.

Given that the GC seem to be trying to clear Spains National Debt by clamping down on motorists for the least little thing these days I would say better safe than sorry. Dont give the bu**ers an opportunity to dream up some new non-compliance rule!

Cycle racks on the rear of a ‘cars must have the red and white diagonal striped with reflectors in some countries , no overhangs off the back of a vehicle , fit a red and white striped board with reflectors to the back , rule is that the bike rack cannot be more than 10% of the vehicle length . the load will also be marked by a red light when travelling in the dark or conditions of poor visibility.
