Ok, it doesn’t make a lot of sense to fly back to the USA during the high point of summer so I know a third party or my parents are allowed to present the necessary documents at a Dpanish consulate the only problem is that my passport will be with me in here in spain. Can i send it through the mail to my parents and then they can just mail it back when I have my visa?  I am not going to be leaving the country so it shouldn’t be a big problem.

How long do you think that would take?

Thanks

Edit: Im on a spain student visa,  it says, “ESTUDIOS HASTA 180
DIAS” It is type D.
I also read about some kind of “grace period” that had to be within the first 30 days to apply for some sort of student residence card, but nobody ever informed me about that until now, and I am already on my 4 month of the visa out of 6, so it is probably too late & Ive been told by the people at oficina de extranjeros that I had to re-apply in the spanish consolate in my country,

I think that you shouldn’t do this, passport is totally personal…

What kind of Student Visa do you have? Limited (for courses max 6 months) or Open?

I’m not sure because I donno your situation, but I think you can apply for a student card instead of your student visa before its expiration.

If you are studying in an University, they usually advice international students. Have you tried yet?

I have similar problems. My plan is to come to Spain in August and enroll in a language school for 2-3 months? I already speak the language so I think 2-3 months should be a good start? and look for a Job while I am there?I live in Australia right now.

How can I make this work?

You have to go to the nearest Spanish Consulate in your region and apply for a student VISA asap.
