When you next need to make a doctor?s appointment, you can consider avoiding the journey to join the long queues at your Centro de Salud (health centre) and or save on the cost of calling a 902 telephone number. If you have access to the internet you will be surprised at how simple it is.  All you need is to go to the Junta de Andaluc?a?s webpage, link below. Fill in your social security number and NIE and date of birth. This will take you to the following page where you have the option of choosing the date and time to suit you. If there is not an appointment available at the chosen time, you will be given options of additional dates.  Once you make your choice click on accept. You will be provided with a printable form with all the details. No printer? Jot down the details or save. The only drawback is for anyone not acquainted with the Spanish language. There is an option for English but not always reliable. It would be worth taking the time and find someone to assist you in your first attempt.  For future use you will find this approach is simple and very convenient.  http://www.juntadeandalucia.es/salud/sites/csalud/portal/index.jsp

Thanks for number and suggestion Myra.
Unfortunately my experience of even booking by phone was a bit hit and miss. I.e I would have a ‘confirmed’ appointment by phone, only to travel into town, park, walk to clinic - and not find my name on the doctors list for that days appointments!
By which time, I would have to go to reception, take a number, que and get a definately bit of paper in my hand with my new appointment.  (Even this though is not fool proof and I have turned up at time/date of app, only to find my name not on list again!)

Ah, the joys of living in Spain!

How much more secure do you think the on-line booking is (I never got round to it and now have a private doctor anyway).

Hello Susan.

The link is for Andalucia and a hundred percent reliable. You receive a print out of your appointment, time date and doctor. Nobody at the clinic can overide this. It has never failed me. There is a reliable 902 number but as you are aware costly. Really please do try and let me know.

Or, in my little village (population about 350), just turn up at the Consultorio at opening time!

Have to say our village doc is very good. She has provided more information about OH’s emergency hip replacement op and subsequent aftercare than ever the hospital did…
